Intensive In-Home
M.I.N.K.S. offers intensive in-home services designed to help children with emotional and behavioral problems overcome their challenges and live successfully at home. Children are helped in the home, which is the least restrictive setting possible.
Children/Adolescents Under 21
- Children/Adolescents who are at risk of out-of-home placement
- Runaways
- A child/adolescent in need of counseling services to successfully transition back into home
- Child/Family seeking and needing assistance with early behavior and emotional problems, poor social skills, and/or academic difficulties
- Willingness to participate in the provided service along with an adult guardian
Behavioral Therapy
Our Behavior Technicians provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment to children diagnosed with language, communication, behavioral and developmental disorders and their families. We address behaviors that affects almost every aspect of behaviors which includes primary symptoms such as lack of or delay in speech, poor nonverbal communication, repetitive movement, diminished social interests, restricted play skills and poor generalization of skills.
Our program is designed to improve the functional behaviors of the individual by using and coordinating multi-disciplinary clinical services to increase the adaptive functioning, behavioral skills, social skills and communication skills. Additionally, family members receive the education, support and training needed to reinforce the treatment of their child and to maintain the changes made while in treatment.
Families are provided essential case management services to address advocacy within the community including educational advocacy and linkage to therapeutic and medical services pertinent to their child’s needs.
Individuals Under 21 Years of Age
- The individual must demonstrate Clinical Necessity documented by their physician (Intellectual Disability, brain injury, behavioral and emotional diagnosis).
- Demonstrates significant communication deficits (including communication within social situations).
- Demonstrates disruptive behaviors such as (but not limited to) crying excessively, repetitive or ritualized behaviors (hand flapping, jumping, spinning).
- Exhibits severe problem behaviors (aggression, self-injury, property destruction).
- Engages in self-stimulatory behavior (rocking, scripting television shows, etc.)
- Needs extra help in Academic Skills
Mental Health Skill Building
Mental Health Skill-Building services are defined as individualized training to enable individuals to achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment. Mental Health Skill Building teaches functional skills and appropriate behavior related to the individual's health and safety, activities of daily living, and use - of community resources, assistance with medication management; monitoring health, nutrition, and physical condition. Mental Health Skill Building are life skills that are necessary for full participation in everyday life. MINKS educate our clients on the necessary skills needed to deal effectively with challenges faced in life.
18 and Above
- Have a need for individualized training in acquiring basic living skills such as symptom management;
adherence to psychiatric and medication treatment plans; development and appropriate use of social skills and personal support system; personal hygiene; food preparation; or money management.
- Have a qualifying mental health diagnosis (psychotic disorder, major depressive disorder – recurrent, or bipolar disorder I or II).
If an individual has another disorder, it will qualify if a physician determines: – it is a serious mental illness – it results in severe and recurrent disability that produces functional limitations in major life activities, and – the individual requires individualized training in order to achieve or maintain independent living in the community
- The individual must have a prior history of qualifying mental health treatment.
A qualifying mental health treatment is: • psychiatric hospitalization, • residential treatment, • residential crisis stabilization, • PACT or ICT services, • RTC-Level C placement, or • A TDO evaluation due to mental health decompensation.
- Have history of being prescribed psychotropic medications
- Live independently if under 21 years of age
- Have an Independent Clinical Assessment completed by the CSB/BHA
Counseling
Counseling services are provided by licensed and experienced clinicians, and mental health professionals who are dedicated to understanding the needs and concerns of their clients. We offer traditional talk therapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other skill-based approaches tailored to support all ages, while prioritizing individual needs and preferences.
Individuals ages 3 and above (individual, couple, group and/or family)
- Exhibits deficits in peer relations, dealing with authority, hyperactivity, clinical depression, poor impulse control, sexual-specific issues, or demonstrates other dysfunctional symptoms having an adverse impact on attention and concentration, the ability to learn, and social activities.
- Requires treatment in order to sustain behavioral or emotional gains or to restore cognitive functional levels, which have been impaired;
- The individual must have a prior history of qualifying mental health treatment.
A qualifying mental health treatment is: • psychiatric hospitalization, • residential treatment, • residential crisis stabilization, • PACT or ICT services, • RTC-Level C placement, or • A TDO evaluation due to mental health decompensation.
- Is at risk for developing or requires treatment for maladaptive coping strategies
- Presents a reduction in individual adaptive and coping mechanism or demonstrates extreme increase in personal distress.
